I bought some lean ground beef at this wonderful place in Grandview TX called Burgundy Beef. http://www.burgundypasturebeef.com/public_home.php
I came up with a delicious and fairly quick recipe. It took me 45 minutes from start to finish. You can’t beat that!
A pinch of cornmeal
1/2 lb lean ground beef, browned
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 chopped jalapeno (optional)
1 cup chopped spinach
2 cloves chopped garlic
1 tsp fresh rosemary (can use dried herbs)
1 tsp fresh basil (can use dried herbs)
1 tsp fresh oregano (can use dried herbs)
1/2 tsp fresh thyme (can use dried herbs)
3 tbsp hummus (optional – I made it a week ago and needed to use it up)
1/2 cup tomato sauce (more or less, whatever you prefer)
1 1/2 cups grated cheese of your choice
1 recipe for whole wheat pizza crust (see previous post for Super Easy Whole Wheat Pie Crust)
Make recipe for Super Easy Whole Wheat Pie Crust. Put in refrigerator.
Brown 1/2 lb lean ground beef. You can cook the garlic, onions, and jalapeno with the beef or put it on the pizza raw. It is up to you.
Roll out pizza crust onto pizza pan or stone. Don’t forget to oil the pan and sprinkle some cornmeal on it to keep your crust from sticking.
Spread hummus and tomato sauce on crust.
Sprinkle 1/2 the herbs on pizza. Spread beef, garlic, onions, jalapeno and spinach on pizza.
Spread cheese on pizza. Sprinkle remaining herbs on top.
Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is done.
